DPF repairs

A DPF warning or repeated regeneration does not automatically mean the diesel particulate filter needs replacement. We investigate the filter and the conditions affecting it before recommending work.

When to ask about a DPF fault

A warning light, reduced power or frequent regeneration can indicate a problem with the filter or a related system. A warning that returns after a previous clean deserves further investigation.

  • DPF or engine warning lights and reduced power
  • Frequent or interrupted regeneration
  • A filter warning returning after cleaning or replacement
  • Fault codes or pressure readings needing investigation

Finding the cause

Depending on the vehicle, further diagnosis may include stored codes, live pressure and temperature information, sensor pipework and available regeneration history. Engine or emissions faults can prevent normal regeneration or contribute to the problem.

We check the condition of the vehicle and relevant prerequisites before considering a forced regeneration.

Cleaning, repair or replacement

If the filter is serviceable and contamination can be removed, cleaning may be appropriate. A damaged filter may need replacement. Sensor, wiring or engine faults need their own repairs.

Cleaning cannot restore a damaged filter or guarantee that a warning will never return. We discuss the findings, access, removal and refitting, parts and estimate before chargeable work.

Before your visit

Bring the registration, engine and mileage, warning messages, code reports and details of earlier cleaning, repairs or software changes. Tell us about the journeys the car makes and whether regeneration has been interrupted.

The initial supported engine-system code scan and assessment are free for engine or gearbox problems; we provide a separate estimate for further investigation and repair.

Discuss your car

Tell us what you need and we’ll discuss suitability and the next step.

Bring your own parts. We'll fit them. Buy suitable parts yourself and pay the supplier directly. You keep any saving on the parts price; we provide a separate estimate for fitting.
