Walnut blasting physically removes carbon deposits from accessible intake ports and inlet valves on suitable engines. We assess the engine, symptoms and access before agreeing the job.

How walnut blasting works
After the required intake components are removed, crushed walnut-shell media loosens deposits from accessible surfaces. Controlled extraction collects the media and loosened material.
The process targets the accessible inlet ports and valves. Cleaning a removed manifold or other component is a separate operation; it is not the same as a fuel-tank additive or external steam cleaning.

When it may be useful
Deposits may restrict airflow or contribute to rough running on some engines. We consider the vehicle, deposit location and symptoms rather than applying a universal mileage interval.
A misfire can also be caused by ignition, injectors or mechanical faults. Cleaning is not guaranteed to cure the problem or deliver a fixed power or economy gain.
Access, inspection and reassembly
The required access varies by engine and can involve removing the inlet manifold or other components. We discuss dismantling, inspection, gaskets and seals and the work included in your estimate.
If additional faults or damaged parts are found, we discuss options and any additional work before proceeding.
Injectors and other causes
For a vehicle with misfires, rough starting or uneven running, injector testing may be worth discussing alongside intake work. It is a separate service, and cleaning or a successful bench test does not repair damaged injector internals.
We can start with the free supported engine-system code scan and initial assessment for an engine or gearbox concern; we provide separate estimates for further testing and repairs.
Request an estimate
Send the registration, engine, mileage, symptoms and any fault-code reports. Include previous intake cleaning, injector work or repairs, and tell us if the manifold has already been removed.
Discuss your car
Tell us what you need and we’ll discuss suitability and the next step.
Bring your own parts. We'll fit them. Buy suitable parts yourself and pay the supplier directly. You keep any saving on the parts price; we provide a separate estimate for fitting.
